Pigeron
Isabelle Pigeron-Piroth is a Research Specialist at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning. An Economist by training (she holds a Master degree in Economics from the University of Nancy-France), she is also interested by the spatial aspects of employment and mobilities in cross-border contexts.
Her research deals with cross-border work in Luxembourg and the Greater Region Saar-Lor-Lux, focusing on sectorial segmentation and spatial structuring of cross-border labour markets. She is also interested in the comparison with other cross-border spaces.
She has been working at the University of Luxembourg since its creation. Beforehand, she worked at the Centre Universitaire de Luxembourg (predecessor of the University).
She is a member of different cross-border networks : UniGR-Center for Border Studies (researchers within the University of the Greater Region doing research on borders) and the LABOR SwissLux- Labour Across Borders (network of researchers from Switzerland, Luxembourg and Lorraine interested by cross-border commuters in a comparative way), of which she is a founding member.
She has published different papers and studies about cross-border commuters (Espace, Populations et Sociétés, 2018 ; Routledge, 2017 ; Revue Française de Socio-Economie, 2016 ; Geo-Regards, 2011 ; Travail et Emploi, 2006 ; STATEC…. ). She also co-edited a book with Rachid Belkacem « Le travail frontalier au sein de la Grande Région Saar-Lor-Lux » (PUN, 2012).
