Lukas
Mellinger

Lukas Mellinger joined the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Luxembourg as a Doctoral Researcher in October 2020. His research interests revolve around entanglements of space, time and law in the contexts of migration and asylum. In his PhD project, he examines waiting spaces within the European deportation regime and their impact on everyday experiences, practices, and future horizons of affected people.

He holds a Master’s degree in Border Studies from the joint program of the University of Luxembourg, Université de Lorraine, Saarland University, and Technische Universität Kaiserslautern. During his Bachelor’s degree he studied politics of the Near and Middle East at the University of Marburg and Cairo University.
