Mariana and Liz listen to Mariana’s story about a horse with a fractured leg and in need of a vet. Mariana co-vocalises when listening to herself. In her story, Liz takes up the ideas of the horse and of a fractured body part but transforms elements of the original. Next, the girls recount fairy tales based on book illustrations. Liz begins to narrate the tale 'cat in boots' but Marina objects to the beginning and they delete it. They then collaboratively construct the story. Mariana whispers ideas to Liz some of which Liz repeats aloud. This except shows two typical collaborations of our nursery children during storytelling: they narrate on their own while integrating elements of previous stories; they construct a story together.
