Katajun Amirpur is the Chair of Islamic Studies at the University of Cologne. Katajun Amirpur has also been a member of the editorial board of Blätter für deutsche und internationale Politik since 2011. Her critical monitoring of contemporary history focuses on reform processes in Islam, the role of women and the debate on Islamophobic ideologies in Europe.
