Inequality and Globalisation
In this lecture, Jacques Silber from Bar-llan University discusses various issues concerning the way inequality changes over time and space. In particular he analyses the impact of globalisation on inequality.
🔘 What type of inequality should we take a look at when analysing world inequality and how did inequality vary over time?
🔘 Does globalisation refer to the international convergence of prices or real wages, to the increase in the volume of trade, the decline in transportation costs and trade restrictions or to the rise in information flows (social globalisation)?
🔘 What is the impact on inequality of technological change and institutional factors, such as the decline in the union coverage, in centralised collective bargaining and labour market regulations? These are some of the issues discussed in this lecture with the support of empirical evidence.
